TED: Ideas Worth SpreadingMy favourite site on the internet at the moment has to be TED.
TED a small nonprofit devoted to "Ideas Worth Spreading". It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Now it acts as a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world's most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other. On a personal note I always come away feeling energised and inspired after looking at this site! http://www.ted.com My favourite speakers on TED have been:

Communities involved in Global Change.Over the last 3 years an explosion of eco products and social change groups have sprouted up everywhere. This may seem like an overnight success and the newest craze of the middle classes, instead this has been the tipping point of years of hard work and development of new ways of being by dedicated visionaries. I have listed a few of my favourites below:
Findhorn Foundation, Scotland, UK Findhorn is a leading light in the Ecovillage movement. Having attended their 2010 Ecovillage Training I can happily back this community as cutting edge and a beautiful example of a template of sustainable healthy and integrated village. http://www.findhorn.org/index.php?tz=-60 Transition Town Movement Transition Town movement was initiated in Kinsale Ireland by Rob Hopkins . It is now a global Network whose role is to inspire, encourage, connect, support and train communities as they self-organise around the transition model, creating initiatives that rebuild resilience and reduce CO2 emissions. http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ |
